Good maintenance will prevent surprises at Home Inspection


Last week I had a home inspection on a house that looked like it was in great shape. We found 3 major areas of concern. The inspector said that the chimney was moveable. the sill plate is rotted and the roof materials are cracked. The first step is for the agent to get experts in these areas in to give us price estimates. A good inspector knows many things but cannot know everything and I have found that many times they are wrong.  Sometimes the issue is not a serious problem and sometimes it is worse than the inspector thought.  They are an important part of the real estate process but buyers, sellers and agents need to do their follow-up before jumping to conclusions.

We all need to remember to talk about only what we are experts in and call in the people who can help us with areas outside…
